About me and what this blog is...

Hello everyone, my friend has owned a 36 pontiac 2 door coupe for 20+ years and was missing a ton of parts and probably thought he would never be able to finish it.  Well he ended up finding a 36 pontiac 4 door (on a running chassis although it still needed a total restoration).  He bought it from New York, trailored it back home, and took the best of both cars to try and put together a mostly original car.  Well luckily for me, he liked the 2 door better and I liked the 4 door better so I bought the 4 door and all left over parts from him to make a hot rod (my goal isn't a super race car, I want it to look mostly factory driving down the street, however I want it to have some power (more than the original 80 hp's that the flathead 6 came with), and some modern luxeries on the interior as well as under the hood.

I'm starting this blog a little late as i've already been working on the car for maybe 5-6 weeks off and on, however I thought that a blog might be a better way to track and show my progress.  Also I figured it would be better that I can update this blog with my progress, only share the blog address to my friends and people I trust who can see my updates and not have to worry about someone I used to go to school with on facebook breaking in and stealing my shit.

So that's the why this blog, now about me.  I guess some people would call me a "jack of all trades master of few".  Professionally i'm an IT Manager and I love everything having to do with computers and technology.  I also dabbled in the civil engineering/surveying field for a decade and I still love using autocad to do dumb things around the house, map out my dumb games I play, etc.  It's a terrific program with so many uses.  I have some heavy construction background as well, but not much in the automotive field.   All of the mechanic knowledge I have comes from hanging around my friend's (the one who sold me the car) garage for the past bunch of years in my spare time.

So without further a do, i'll post some pictures of where/what I started from and where I am up to this point.  Here is a pic of what the 4 door looked like when my friend picked it up.

  1. he photos and the progress. I am doing almost the same project with a 1935 Oldsmobile roadster updated with Olds V8 driveline. I'd like to know more you have done on the car. I'd like to hear from you when you have time. Thanks for the help !
